The College Freshman Book Tag

What’s the best way to get out of a blogging slump? Why, a book tag, of course!

The College Freshman Book Tag was created by Dawlyn and Krista @ Little Blind Book Finds. I discovered it earlier this summer through Vrinda @ A Bookish Human.

I’m no freshman – on the contrary, I’m in my final year – but this tag suits this period. I wanted to post it a couple of weeks ago to coincide with the start of the academic year, but hey, I’m still in time, right? (Freshmen in Malta started this week, in fact!)

I’m not tagging anyone. If you’re going to do it, let me know so I can read your post. 🙂

Book Rambles: Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman

After My Grandmother Sends Her Regards & Apologises, the next Fredrik Backman novel in my possession was Britt-Marie Was Here.

It’s a spin-off centred around one of the secondary characters in My Grandmother. If you haven’t read the previous book, don’t worry: Britt-Marie can still be read as a standalone because it is unrelated to Elsa’s adventure and it retells the main character’s backstory from scratch. Readers who have read My Grandmother, on the other hand, will learn more details about Britt-Marie’s past and discover a new side of this woman, who had previously seemed too annoying to bear.

Book Rambles: My Grandmother Sends Her Regards & Apologises by Fredrik Backman

Ever since I read and loved A Man Called Ove last summer, I’ve been looking forward to reading all the other translated work by the Swedish bestseller Fredrik Backman. At last, I had the opportunity to tackle two of his novels which I had received as Christmas gifts.

The first of these novels, which I’m reviewing today, is called My Grandmother Sends Her Regards and Apologises.

The Book Lovers Tag

During my hiatus, I was tagged by Steph from Scale it Simple to do The Book Lovers Tag. Thanks a lot Steph for thinking of me and sorry for the delay!

Although the tag’s name is similar to another one I did late last year, this one is different because it concerns our reading habits instead of specific books we have read. I enjoyed answering the questions and reading Steph’s and other bloggers’ replies. 🙂

Here are my answers!

10 Types of Books I Wish I Had Time to Read

Bookworm problem #1: too many books, so little time. Agreed?

Every person who’s passionate about reading will, at some point, discover that they have too many books on their shelves, too many books in their TBR piles, and not enough time to go through all of them. The more you finish, the bigger the number of books you still have to read. It’s a lost cause!

This problem seems especially insurmountable if, like me, you’re interested in a vast range of books. I have around a thousand of books I wish to read on my Goodreads to-read list and Amazon wishlists. Whenever I browse these lists, I’m amazed at the variety. It’s no wonder, then, that I feel like I don’t read enough if I’m always sticking to the same kinds of books (lately I’m just into contemporary European fiction).

Compiling today’s list was hard because I had to squeeze everything into ten points. I’m sure I will find more types to add in a future follow-up, but in the meantime, here are the top 10 types of books I wish I had the time to read.
